what we do
R3 is a special response organization focusing on the rescue and recovery of victims of sex trafficking. Operating since 2019, R3 has been conducting investigations and rescue operations in many parts of the U.S. resulting in the freedom for dozens of women.
R3 works in tandem with numerous non-profit organizations to ensure that rescued survivors had a safe and secure place to recover from the trauma they have endured, with qualified, vetted, and experienced staff. These organizations provide safe houses and recovery centers where women are treated with dignity and compassion while helping them piece back together their lives.
While R3 conducts independent investigations and operations, we most often are involved with various local and Federal law enforcement entities. This includes Sheriff Departments, Homeland Security, and FBI. Our focus is the victims of the Sex Trade, and we work hard to prevent victims from ending up incarcerated instead of rescued. Many times, the people we aim to rescue are engaged in illegal activities (under duress), and can end up right back with their traffickers if they end up incarcerated if they do not have an advocate like R3.
Additionally, R3 conducts free seminars throughout the state, aimed at educating families,
professionals, and individuals about the current tactics used by pimps and recruiters that ensnare our children. These seminars are open to the public, and offer a wealth of information aimed to help prevent young people from being manipulated into situations that can lead to being trafficked.
These seminars continue to be used to educate people on what is happening right in our own backyards. Sex Trafficking seems like a “Somewhere Else” problem, but it occurs virtually everywhere – and not just in large cities.
While we have been fortunate to help some people escape from their traffickers, we have discovered that it can be a difficult cycle to disrupt. Not all stories have a happy ending. Education and prevention is just as critical as helping people to escape.
Every service we offer is at no cost. The transport of survivors, the investigations, the operations
themselves, and the seminars are all aimed to be a gift, not a burden to those we serve.
Goals & Objectives
The Rescue & Recovery of Victims of Sex Trafficking
The first priority of R3 is the safe and effective extraction of victims of Sex Trafficking. Whether we have been tasked by local/Federal agencies to participate in an operation that they are conducting, or if we involve agencies on an operation of our own, our goal is to ensure that the victims are not treated as criminals, but given the opportunity to break free from their traffickers. We have also been contacted by families and other Non-Profit Organizations to provide assistance to those trapped in a cycle of manipulation or even forced into sex work. Our goal is to continue to offer a way out, with a safe destination where survivors can rebuild their lives.
Transportation of Survivors
From its onset, R3 has always been a transportation organization at its core. Justin is a pilot, and wanted to be able to transport victims safely and securely, without leaving a trail for traffickers to follow. Our goal is to continue this effort, and eventually own vehicles of our own which can be used exclusively for this purpose. Currently, we rely on automotive and aviation vehicles which we borrow as needed from our network of supporters.
Active Investigations
Two years ago, Justin was certified through ARC (the Association for the Recovery of Children) to fight Sex Trafficking through investigations, advocacy, prevention, and direct rescue efforts. Even prior to that, Justin had worked on private investigations with local NGOs and FBI to bring down a ring of traffickers run by a Mexican Maffia Cartel in Tampa. With a knack for quickly identifying what
could be a trafficking situation, Justin has led R3 through many investigations resulting in arrests, rescues, and revoking rental agreements for these “businesses” to operate. It is the goal of R3 to not only continue investigating, but become increasingly more effective in these efforts.
Educational Seminars
Beginning in late 2021, R3 began to conduct educational seminars throughout the state of Florida (primarily in the Northeast). Their purpose has been to increase awareness of the reality of Sex Trafficking in our own area, and to make known the current tactics that traffickers use in ensnaring young people into the Sex Trade. These seminars have been free and open to the public, offering
information that is VITAL in prevention. There are many misconceptions about how someone ends up being a victim of the Sex Trade, and some of the warning signs can be easily missed.
During our years of operation, R3 has not only had victories – but all too often there are people who cannot allow themselves to be free, usually due to manipulation. Their chains are not made of steel. Our Goal is to help prevent our children from ending up in a situation, rather than attempting to rescue them from it. Prevention is far easier to achieve than Recovery.
Who are we
Justin, born and raised in Texas, is a pilot with a background in law enforcement. While still a college student, he founded R3 in 2020 because of a passion to rescue victims of sex trafficking. He managed to balance his studies alongside his pursuit of this passion, and immediately became immersed in the community of those already battling sex trafficking. He will complete his degree in December 2022 at the College of Missionary Aviation with a Bachelor of Science, majoring in Aviation Science with a minor in Cultural Studies. Through his studies, he has been able to add a number of endorsements to his Pilot’s License which offers many benefits to his organization.
Since forming R3, Justin has had the opportunity to work operations with various Federal agencies, including the Department of Homeland Security and FBI for both investigative and sting operations. He has also cultivated a working relationship with a number of local Police and Sheriff’s Departments throughout the state, and conducted operations with them as well. He maintains his tactical training through former military personnel, and he is certified with the Association for the
Recovery of Children. To date, R3 has helped to rescue dozens of women from sex trafficking in Florida.
Beginning in the fall of 2021, Justin began conducting seminars which are open to the public, exposing some of the tactics most commonly used by sex traffickers. These seminars were born out of the realization that recovering victims of sex trafficking was far less successful than helping to prevent people from being trapped to begin with. These seminars are offered at no cost, often hosted by churches and civic organizations. .
